La Roka Santorini
La Roka Boutique Hotel is a collection of eight cave suites, arranged amphitheatrically above Santorini’s volcanic caldera. Its architectural composition takes full advantage of the dramatic topography, unfolding across a sequence of stepped terraces that embrace the landscape while framing uninterrupted views toward the horizon.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional yposkafa dwellings, the suites are carved into the terrain, offering natural cooling, privacy, and protection from the island’s strong winds. At the same time, the geometry is reinterpreted through clean, contemporary lines and precise incisions, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow throughout the day.
The development is articulated through layered outdoor spaces, where private plunge pools and lounge areas alternate with planted terraces and shaded seating zones. Lightweight fabric canopies and pergolas filter the intense Cycladic sunlight, enhancing both comfort and a sense of seclusion.
Crisp white volumes are set against natural textures and earthy tones, forming a refined yet understated aesthetic that respects local architectural principles without resorting to cliché. Arched openings and carefully positioned apertures create controlled visual connections, revealing fragments of the surrounding landscape and enriching the spatial experience.
La Roka Boutique Hotel offers a contemporary interpretation of Cycladic hospitality, where architecture, landscape, and privacy coexist in harmony, creating a serene retreat suspended above the Aegean Sea.
